In the dead of winter in Arizonian I decided to go solo camping in the mountains. Armed with what I believed to be adequate gear, including a hammock and a sleeping bag rated for -20 degrees Fahrenheit, I trekked six miles into the mountains. As dusk fell, I set up my hammock and prepared for a restful night's sleep.
To my surprise, the biting cold proved more formidable than anticipated. Even though the sleeping bag I'd chosen was suitable for -20 Fahrenheit and the temperature had just dipped below freezing, it had lost its insulating efficiency. The goose down stuffing, compressed along my backside, could no longer trap air as it met the hammock's thin fabric. As a result, my night turned into a chilling, sleepless ordeal.
Daybreak found me huddled by a fire, seeking to restore warmth and comfort. As I did, an idea sparked within me. Over the following years, I channeled my focus and determination into crafting the world's first inflatable insulated hammock: the HangPad! This revolutionary piece of camping equipment was not just robust but also warm. It incorporated innovative features such as adjustable pillows and integrated straps.
Through this chilling experience, I learned a crucial lesson: while venturing into the great outdoors, a simple hammock would no longer suffice. I required something more, something better. I required the HangPad!
